PET Scan Anxiety

Writer's picture: Brittany LauerBrittany Lauer

Tomorrow, I will have my first PET scan since my diagnosis. I have found through my journey a lot of people have “scananxiety.” I don’t know what I would call what I am feeling.

Before the diagnosis, I went in to appointments and imaging with the attitude, “I am still young, everything is going to be normal.” Foolish. Cancer has shown us time and time again it does not discriminate on age or gender.

Those around me have said, “your scan is going to be good. It is going to show improvement.” As much as I hope and pray that to be the case, forgive me if I still have apprehension and doubt about that. Remember, I was diagnosed stage 4 with no symptoms. As I have stated in prior posts, my body has kept all systems functioning. Leaving the cancer virtually undetectable to me.

If you could please say an extra prayer for me, I would appreciate it. Even if it is prayer for peace to ease the lump in the throat and calm this knot twisting in my stomach.

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone! We all survived Monday 😊

Andrew Wentsel The Bible says God offers peace that makes no sense. We translate that as “which transcends all understanding” but you could simplify that as “crazy peace.” Go be crazy.
